What inspired you to become an interior designer?
As a young girl, I used to flick through home magazines to find my favourite interiors and sketch a copy of the space. I would then layer the interiors with different furniture and colours as if it was my project.
Describe your experience as an interior designer.
I have been lucky enough to work on projects overseas and in the UK, from FF&E only to design and build. With each project comes different challenges that help to shape you as an interior designer and develop your confidence and knowledge.
Which are the most important factors when designing a room?
For practicality, it is important to understand your client’s needs and how they wish to use the space. I also like to study the architecture of the building, whether it is a modern or a period property, designing the interiors should complement the shell.
Which is your favourite project (finished or ongoing) and why?
It is hard to select a favourite, I normally get inspired by each of my projects and different client’s briefs.
How would you prioritize tasks for a renovation project?
I like to first understand what the client’s vision is for their space and how they wish to use each room. I then take all the information and work on potential layouts. Once the plans are confirmed, it is time to develop the small power plan whilst presenting concept images for the house.
Would you ever prioritize aesthetics over function when designing a room?
I believe function should be the first thought when drawing up a floor plan, then, as a designer we are there to make the space look aesthetically pleasing.
How do you keep up-to-date with the latest trends in interior design?
Regularly attending exhibitions and trade events, also flicking through interior and architectural magazines are great ways to stay up to date with trends.
Which are your top 3 favorite home brands?
Rose Uniacke, Pure White Lines, Oka
Which is your current favorite interior design inspiration photo?
All the photos from a recent Maddux Creative project: Marylebone Pied-à-Terre.
List out some of the interior design magazines which can inspire you.

Where is your favorite place to be, when you want to get inspired?
I love being out and about at galleries or exhibitions. I believe exploring really does help get the creative juices flowing!
What is your dream home style?
A space filled with period features and grand ceiling height, layered with a combination of antiques collected from all over the world and modern furniture. I love to travel and collect accessories and art from the places I have been to. My dream home would be an eclectic style.
Where in the world have you stayed where interior design & architecture has stood out, and why?
I remember traveling through Rajasthan and seeing the most beautifully constructed forts and palaces.
Home is …
A space to feel safe and comfortable.
